Voice Lessons FAQ

Q: I don't have any prior experience with singing or even music-- can I still take voice lessons?

A: Absolutely you can!! I welcome everybody from the greenest beginners to experienced singers in my studio.

Q: Do you take children as voice students?

A: Yes! I take students 7 and up in my voice studio. However, I do highly recommend holding off on voice lessons until at least the age of 12. This is in consideration of the rapid and major changes the human voice goes through during these years. Voice lessons for younger students have a greater emphasis on learning musicianship, intonation, and breath management.

Q: Can adults take voice lessons?

A: 100% yes! One of my greatest joys in my teaching career is helping adults learn to love their singing voice. You are never too old to start up music lessons of any kind.

Q: How are voice lessons structured?

A: Voice lessons are generally a divide of working through vocal exercises and working on repertoire. The vocal exercises are tailored to each individual student's needs and goals-- exercises are crucial to proper vocal development!

Q: Can I do a single lesson, or does it have to be a weekly lesson?

A: Absolutely! I offer a la carte lessons, as well as bi-weekly lessons. These are great options for people with busy, ever changing schedules, or for those who want a couple of power sessions to prepare for an audition or gig. Keep in mind though that a la carte lessons do not reserve a particular time slot.

Q: What are your qualifications?

A: I am a summa cum laude graduate of CSU Northridge's Film Scoring program with a Bachelor of Music in Commercial and Media Writing, with voice being my main instrument. I am classically trained and have studied classical voice in addition to my many years of experience doing musical theatre, singing with bands, playing gigs as a singer-songwriter, and much more. I have been teaching voice lessons to students of all ages and skill levels since graduating in 2019 and loving every minute of it! I also have experience with audio production and recording and love helping my students learn how to start recording their covers and originals.
