Payment
Tuition is a fixed flat rate that equates to four lessons per month, regardless of if the student receives 3, 4, or 5 lessons that month. This equates to 48 guaranteed lessons per calendar year and accounts for my studio being closed for Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the weeks of Christmas and New Year's Day. I use this system to provide consistency and convenience for my students, as well as ensuring a steady income throughout the year.
Payment is due no later than the first lesson of the month for the entirety of the month's lessons. If payment is not received by the end of the first lesson, lessons will be suspended until tuition is paid. Students can choose to receive an invoice through PayPal or Venmo, or pay by cash or check in person.
This policy ensures that I am compensated for my time and expertise, as well as reserving the student's lesson time. If lessons are suspended due to lack of payment, the lesson time will be forfeited and become available to other students.
Cancellation/Reschedule Policy
Regular, timely attendance is expected, but I realize things come up sometimes! If you need to reschedule or cancel, I ask for at least 24 hours notice. I do not offer reimbursement or credit for cancelled or missed lessons, but I do allow rescheduling, make-up lessons, or recorded video lessons in lieu of our regular lesson. Once a lesson is rescheduled, it cannot be rescheduled again. I am, of course, flexible in respect to federal holidays and other popular holidays and want to make it as easy as possible to move things around if need be.
If 10 minutes from the start of your lesson time have passed with no notification, your lesson time for the day will be forfeited. There will be no reimbursement for missed lessons.
Teacher Missed Lessons
If I have to miss or reschedule a lesson, I will reschedule it at the student's convenience or create a video lesson. If the lesson cannot be made-up/rescheduled, it will be credited toward the next month's bill.
Practice
All musicians can only improve with practice-- regular practice is essential to making progress!
Children often need structured practice time and a push from parents to practice regularly. Please keep in mind that the amount of practice outside of lessons will really be the cornerstone of progress, and it affects the quality of each lesson. I only see students for 30 minutes to an hour a week, so it is up to them to take what they learned in our lesson and continue to work on it each week.
Communication
I value an open communication between myself and my students. For younger students, I'm committed to keeping parents on the same page as far as lesson progress and goals go. Please don't hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. Molding a young person into a musician and artist is a team effort!
Discontinuing Lessons
My hope is that music lessons will be a positive experience from the beginning to the end-- there are many reasons people may stop taking lessons, and I will never take it personally! Please give me at least two weeks notice before the beginning of the next billing cycle if you plan on cancelling lessons. This gives me and other prospective students an opportunity to fill your lesson time.
